Why don’t I have access to my SSP?

Ever wonder why you have to login to your Shared Service Provider? Me too! SharePoint distinguishes permissions between the farm administrators, which have rights to login to the Central Administration Console, and the Shared Service Provider administrators. Because Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) has a distributed management model and is built upon Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 (WSS), the Shared Service Provider is actually a functioning WSS site collection with its own security and content database. With that said, the only user that initially has access to your Shared Service Provider(s) is its Creator.

To give yourself and other users access to the Shared Service Provider,
