InfoPath “Unknown Error” when attempting to load a browser enabled form

Problem

I’ve recently seen this error several times when attempting to preview a form I’ve published to InfoPath forms services.

Explanation

I’ve logged two possible causes to this problem that are permission and feature related.

Resolution

Option 1 – Make sure your application pool is running as a service account other than "local system" or "network service". You should update this via "services on server" as shown below but you could also manually update the identity.

Option 2 – Make sure that you have your enterprise site features enabled.

Thank you VERY much for the post. I couldn’t figure out why this wasn’t working on our farm setup, but this explains EVERYTHING!

Just a quick heads up… If you’re using the “People Picker” (contact selector) and you didn’t follow the steps for the creation of the proper schema within your main data source (ie it doesn’t follow the instructions in the Item tab of the Contact Selector Property Panel, you’ll also get the same results. Yikes…

      Ryan,
You are right, the infopath forms services version is very finicky.
