Can’t delete a “linked” image from InfoPath

Problem

InfoPath complains that you have a linked image when you are trying to author a forms services (browser) enabled SharePoint form.

Solution

  • Select Design Tasks > Views
  • Create a New View (bottom of Design Task’s Views windows)

  • Copy the contents of your offending view to the new view
  • Delete the original "offending" view
  • Refresh the compatibility settings an voila, all good!

Explanation

No explanation, this is clearly a bug.  This usually happens when you copy and past an image into your clipboard.
