Can’t delete a “linked” image from InfoPath

Problem

InfoPath complains that you have a linked image when you are trying to author a forms services (browser) enabled SharePoint form.

Solution

Select Design Tasks > Views
Create a New View (bottom of Design Task’s Views windows)

Copy the contents of your offending view to the new view
Delete the original "offending" view
Refresh the compatibility settings an voila, all good!

Explanation

No explanation, this is clearly a bug. This usually happens when you copy and past an image into your clipboard.
